Gateway Arcana Privacy Policy

Your readings belong to you. Gateway Arcana is local-first. The app has no advertising, cross-app tracking, third-party analytics SDK, Gateway Arcana account, or company-operated database for your readings, Journal, Practice answers, or deck photos.
Information stored on your device
The app stores card study progress, Quiz results, readings and questions, Journal writing, custom spreads, preferences, Practice answers and reflections, your place in the Fool’s Journey, personal deck names and metadata, scanned artwork and card backs, and recovery copies. These records support the features you choose to use.
Photos and camera
When you choose a photo or use the camera to add deck artwork, the app creates a cropped and resized copy for its Deck Library. Your original Photos image is not changed. Camera access is requested when you use the camera; the system photo picker lets you choose images to import. Gateway Arcana does not automatically send these images to the developer.
Optional private iCloud sync
iCloud Sync is off until you enable it. Supported app records and personal deck artwork then synchronize through the private CloudKit database of the Apple Account signed in on your device. Records are controlled by your Apple Account, count against your iCloud storage, and are not available to Derek Daisey Media through Apple’s developer tools. Practice answers and Fool’s Journey progress currently stay local and are included in app data backups rather than iCloud progress sync.
Turning sync off stops synchronization on that device and keeps its local copy. Data already stored in iCloud remains in your private account. Apple handles its services under Apple’s privacy policy.
Exports, backups and sharing
You choose when to export an app backup, Journal or reading, a tabletop image, or your Deck Library, and choose the destination using Apple’s file and share controls. Regular app data backups include Practice progress but do not include deck artwork; use Settings > Deck Library to export and restore artwork separately. Exported files and recovery copies can contain personal writing and photos. Protect them and share only what you intend.
If you copy an interpretation into another app or service, that service’s privacy practices apply. Gateway Arcana has no embedded AI service and does not automatically submit your interpretations to one.
Purchases and Apple services
Apple processes App Store purchases and may process download, diagnostic and iCloud service information under its own terms and privacy policy. Gateway Arcana does not receive your payment-card details.
Support correspondence
If you email support, Derek Daisey Media receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. They are used to answer your request and resolve the issue, and are not used for advertising. Support email is handled by Gmail under Google’s privacy practices. Send only information needed to explain the problem; private Journal entries and full backups are normally unnecessary. Ask for deletion of support correspondence using the contact below.
Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you remove them, reset the app, replace them by restoring a backup, or uninstall the app. Delete personal decks or individual scans in Deck Library. Settings > Reset Gateway Arcana removes local app data. Changes to synchronized records may also synchronize when iCloud Sync is enabled. Manage iCloud data and device backups through Apple’s controls. Files you exported and copies you shared are separate and must be deleted at their destinations. Turning off sync or uninstalling alone does not delete every cloud or exported copy.
Children
Gateway Arcana is not designed to collect personal information from children. It contains reflective Tarot material and classic card imagery. Follow the App Store age rating and any applicable adult-guidance requirements.

This policy describes the Gateway Arcana app. Visiting derekdaisey.com, using its music store or joining its mailing list are separate website activities governed by the site’s applicable notices and service providers.
