GATEWAY LOG PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: September 29, 2026
Gateway Log is designed as a private, local-first journal for meditation, dreams, and consciousness exploration. This policy explains what the app stores, when information may pass through Apple services, and the choices available to you.
WHO OPERATES GATEWAY LOG
Gateway Log is developed and operated by Derek Daisey. For privacy questions, contact thegatewaylog.media@gmail.com.
INFORMATION YOU CHOOSE TO STORE
Gateway Log can store journal entries, session details, intentions and questions, feelings and impressions, tags, verification notes, audio recordings, transcripts, images, files, Emoji Clue preferences, and app settings. This material is created or selected by you.
The app does not require a Gateway Log account. The developer does not operate a server that receives your journal, and does not use your journal content for advertising, analytics, profiling, or training artificial-intelligence models.
STORAGE AND ICLOUD SYNC
Your journal is stored locally on your device. When you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available for Gateway Log, Apple’s private CloudKit service may store and synchronize your journal, settings, audio, images, and attachments among your devices. Private CloudKit data is associated with your Apple Account and is not available to the developer through a Gateway Log account or developer dashboard.
Apple processes iCloud data under its own privacy terms. You can manage iCloud access in your device settings.
AUDIO RECORDING AND TRANSCRIPTION
Gateway Log uses the microphone only after you choose to record. Recordings are saved with the related journal entry. You may play, export, or delete a recording from the app.
When you request transcription, Gateway Log requires a supported Apple on-device speech recognizer. The app does not send your recording to the developer or to a third-party AI transcription service. The editable transcript and original audio remain separate so that deleting one does not silently alter the other.
PHOTOS AND FILES
Gateway Log accesses only the photos and files you choose through Apple’s system pickers. Selected items are copied into the journal so they can be shown with the entry and included in backups or exports you create. Compatible Mind Monitor CSV files may be read locally to draw a chart. Gateway Log does not upload those files to the developer.
EXPORTS, BACKUPS, AND SHARING
Gateway Log can create text or RTF exports, image exports, AI-analysis packages, audio exports, and complete journal backups. Nothing is sent merely because an export is created. Information leaves Gateway Log only when you select a destination in Apple’s share interface or save it to a location you choose. The privacy practices of that destination then apply.
YOUR BACKUPS AND RISK OF DATA LOSS
Please create a Complete Backup regularly and keep an independent copy in a location you control, such as Files on another device or a storage provider you trust. Confirm that the backup file is present. iCloud sync is useful for keeping devices current, but it is not a substitute for an independent backup: deletion, corruption, device loss, account problems, or sync errors can affect multiple devices. Gateway Log does not operate your iCloud account or the storage location you choose for exports and backups, and cannot recover a journal from those services for you.
Software and storage services cannot guarantee that journal data will never be lost. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not responsible for loss of journal data arising from use of Gateway Log or from device, iCloud, or other storage failures. This statement does not limit rights that cannot legally be waived. The app is licensed under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, which includes its own limitation-of-liability terms: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
PERMISSIONS
Depending on the features you use, Gateway Log may request microphone and speech-recognition permission. Photo and file selection uses Apple’s system interfaces. You can review or change permissions in your device’s Settings.
ANALYTICS, ADVERTISING, AND TRACKING
Gateway Log does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The app does not sell personal information and does not track you across apps or websites.
Apple may provide the developer with aggregated App Store, installation, sales, crash, and diagnostic information according to your device and App Store privacy settings. That information is administered by Apple and does not give the developer access to your journal content.
RETENTION AND DELETION
Journal content remains until you delete it, delete the app’s data, or remove it from iCloud. Because private iCloud sync can propagate changes between devices, deleting an entry or attachment may also delete it from other devices connected to the same Apple Account. Export a backup first if you want an independent copy.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Gateway Log is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a Gateway Log account or backend.
SECURITY
Gateway Log relies on Apple platform protections for app storage, device access, and private iCloud synchronization. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, so protect access to your device, Apple Account, and exported files.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
This policy may be updated when Gateway Log’s features or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be revised when a new version is published.
